サステナブルなプロダクトは、「正しい」だけでなく、美しく、使い続けたいと思えるものである必要があります。
本セッションでは、スペイン出身のインダストリアルデザイナー Mireia Gordi Vila氏と、福井でプラスチックリサイクルに取り組む株式会社ソリッドラボ TSUKURITO の黒田悠生氏を迎え、ローカルとグローバルの視点を横断しながら、機能美と循環型デザインの実践についてお話しいただきます。
二人を結びつけたのは、「プラスチックは廃棄物ではなく、地域に残された資源である」という Precious Plastic の思想です。大規模なインフラに頼るのではなく、小さな設備とオープンな知識によって地域の中に循環を生み出す——サステナビリティを「仕組み」ではなく「文化」として根づかせていく視点がそこにはあります。
一方で、廃棄プラスチックを扱うものづくりは、素材のばらつきや不確実性を伴う実験的なプロセスでもあります。その中で、インダストリアルデザイナーとしての視点から、繰り返し使えるプロダクトとして成立させること、そのバランスの取り方も本セッションの重要なテーマのひとつです。
また、異なる言語や文化を持つデザイナーやつくり手が協働することは、単なるノウハウの共有にとどまらず、共通の思想と実践を通じて関係性を築いていくプロセスでもあります。そうした関係性の中で、循環という考え方そのものも、少しずつかたちを変えながら広がっていきます。
本セッションでは、「機能美」を軸に、小さく、美しく、使い続けたくなるものづくりについて、参加者の皆さまとともに考え、対話を深めていきます。

本パネルは、GREEN×EXPO 2027開催の機会を捉えて、YOKOHAMA CONNÉCTの枠組みのもと、Tech Hub Yokohamaにて企画されています。
サーキュラーデザインを軸に、テクノロジー・アート・まちづくりをテーマに、オーディエンスとともに学び、探求する場として、一般社団法人tonariのZuccaが、地域のデザイナー・企業・大学と連携して企画しました。本取り組みを通じて、新たなコラボレーションの創出を目指しています。

Functional Beauty & Circularity — Making Small. Shaping Cycles.
Sustainable products aren’t only about being “correct.” They should be beautiful—and worth continuing to use.
In this session, Spanish industrial designer Mireia Gordi Vila and Yusei Kuroda of Solid Lab Inc. TSUKURITO in Fukui share their practices in functional beauty and circular design, bridging local and global perspectives. Their work is shaped through a collaborative project developed across language barriers.
What connects them is the philosophy of Precious Plastic—that plastic is not waste, but a resource embedded within communities. Rather than relying on large-scale infrastructure, they work with small-scale tools and open knowledge to create local cycles, approaching sustainability not just as a system, but as something that can take root as culture.
At the same time, working with waste plastics is inherently experimental, shaped by variability and uncertainty. Within this, a key challenge is how to create products that can be made again and again—finding a balance between experimentation and repeatability.
Collaboration across different languages and cultures goes beyond the sharing of knowledge. Through shared ideas and practices, relationships take shape—and within them, new ways of understanding circularity begin to emerge.
In this session, we will explore how to create things that are small, beautiful, and worth continuing—through the lens of functional beauty.
Positioning of this Panel Series
This panel is planned at Tech Hub Yokohama as a pre-event for GREEN×EXPO 2027, under the framework of YOKOHAMA CONNÉCT.
Based on circular design, and focusing on themes of technology, art, and urban development, Zucca of the general incorporated association tonari has planned this event in collaboration with local designers, companies, and universities as a place for learning and exploration together with the audience. Through this initiative, we aim to create new collaborations.
