概要 | Description:
Japan has world-class research, technologies, and industrial capabilities. Increasingly, the challenge is to turn these strengths into businesses that create real value for society and ultimately into new industries.
This session brings together three perspectives: startups working to commercialize university-born technologies; innovation ecosystems that connect entrepreneurs, companies, and supporters in Japan and around the world; and place-based collaboration in cities and regions, including initiatives surrounding GREEN×EXPO 2027. Together, we will explore what kinds of partnerships are needed to translate technologies with the potential to change the world into real-world impact and industrial growth.
What kinds of partners, resources, and environments are needed to transform research and technology into viable businesses? How can global networks and talent bring new perspectives and opportunities to Japan’s startups and industries? And what role can cities such as Yokohama play as platforms where startups, corporations, government, and citizens come together to test ideas, launch new initiatives, and create new value?
Bringing together perspectives from research, entrepreneurship, global collaboration, and urban development, the session will explore how new industries can be built from strong local foundations, scaled globally, and translated into meaningful impact for society.
